Are you looking for ways to build successful relationships with influential bloggers? Are you looking for bloggers to act as ambassadors for your products and services?
There are a number of different ways that you can build relationships with influential bloggers depending on your needs and preferences.
Marketing has evolved dramatically in recent years. Instead of trying to reach the widest possible audience, you must now go after the types of people who are the most likely to tell others about you on your behalf. That’s where blogging comes into the equation.
One of the key advantages that influential bloggers in your industry have when sending a message is that they already have direct access to your target audience through their readers. As a result, they have a great deal of influence when it comes to the purchasing decisions that their readers make and word of mouth marketing.
A number of studies indicate that over 80% of the people online get some actionable advice from the blogs that they frequent. As many as 60% of those people have made at least one purchase in the past based on that information.
1. Focus on Long-Term Relationships
One of the best ways to build relationships with influential bloggers is to focus on building a long-term relationship rather than the short-term goal of selling your product or service. Instead of paying an influential blogger to run one or two sets of ads on their site, you should instead build a strong and ongoing relationship to reap those benefits well into the future.
As business people nothing is more valuable than the quality of your relationships. Whether you realize it or not, your success in business (and in life) will largely be dependant upon your ability to not only establish key relationships, but in your ability to influence and add value to your relationships. – Mike Myatt, n2growth.com
If a blogger mentions your brand on a regular basis, it will:
- Provide the benefit of authentic and organic content.
- Raise brand awareness
- Generate leads, both directly from people who are reading that person’s blog and with the friends and family members that those people are likely to share that content.
Organic content posted on a regular basis is key, as that is the type of content that people likely won’t realize is an advertisement at all.
2. Provide Bloggers with your Product
If you want an influential blogger to successfully push your marketing message and showcase your product, they usually need first-hand experience with the product itself. As a result, you need to be willing to send them free items or provide your services to them for free so that they can craft the best possible content moving forward.
When establishing a relationship, you should first start out by introducing yourself. Provide a bit of information about your brand, the product or service that you’re promoting, and the benefits your products or services provide.
Once a blogger has tried your products or services, follow-up to see what they think. Keep in mind, however, that you need to be sending items to the blogger with the concept of “no strings attached” firmly in mind. Just because you’re providing a free product or service doesn’t mean that they will review it.
3. Make the Process as Easy as Possible
If you really want an influential blogger to spread your marketing message to their already robust audience, you need to do the majority of the work for them. If you want the blogger in question to run a promotion, for example, provide them with suggested copy.
If you want your blogger to run a contest where five winners receive one copy of your product for free, ship those prizes to the blogger well in advance of the time the contest begins. Doing so will make it as easy as possible for the blogger to do what you actually need them to do.
4. Host Blogger Events
Another great way to establish relationships with influential bloggers is to host an event at your business for those bloggers to attend. Face to face events like this are great for building personal relationships that will last significant periods of time.
These types of personal events are also great for allowing the blogger to use your product or service in a controlled environment where you can be on hand to answer any questions or concerns that they might have.
5. Launch a Unique Campaign
Finally, you need to be prepared to allow the blogger to do what it is that they’re already doing – be unique and creative. The blogger has influence and a wide audience for a reason – they were able to successfully market themselves and stand out in a crowd.
You need to be prepared to let them do the same when it comes to your product. Allow the blogger to have input on your unique marketing campaign for the best possible results.
By keeping just a few key things in mind, you can build relationships with influential bloggers and spread the word about your product or service to an audience larger than you ever would have been able to manage on your own.
